The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has urged the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant beneficiaries who selected the cash send payment method and have no payment dates to provide the agency with their banking details via the official Sassa SRD website. This is done because some may not have a payment date due to the failure of their mobile number verification.

SASSA cannot pay your grant into another person’s bank account. please ensure that the mobile phone number on which you received the SMS is registered in your name. SASSA cannot pay your grant into a mobile phone number which is registered to another person.

South African Social Services Agency (Sassa) is an institution which distributes social grants to poor South Africans on behalf of the Department of Social Development (DSD).

The Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD Grant) is meant for South African Citizens, Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Special Permit Holders who are between the ages of 18 and 60 years, who have insufficient means, who do not receive social grants on behalf of herself/ himself or who are not contributing to or eligible for UIF payment, and have no financial support from any other source.

Sassa SRD grant beneficiaries can collect their Sassa Grand R350 from: Personal bank accounts, Boxer Stores, Pick n Pay, Selected OK Foods Supermarkets, Checkers, Shoprite and Usave.

Sassa has also stated that SRD beneficiaries who have been approved with no SRD Grant payments dates, can contact the bank they are registered with if they have mistakenly deleted the message with the voucher so that the bank can resend the voucher.

Please submit your 13 digit South African identity number and the 6 digit Application ID (AppID) that SASSA issued to you on application or reapplication.

How To Submit Sassa R350 Grant Appeal Under New Rules

  • Step 1: Visit srd.dsd.gov.za
  • Step 2: Click on the green bar that says ‘click here to lodge an appeal or check appeal status‘
  • Step 3: Enter your ID number
  • Step 4: Enter your cellphone number
  • Step 5: Click ‘send pin’ and wait for the SMS which will contain the verification pin
  • Step 6: Enter the pin and click ‘submit’
  • Step 7: Select the month you are submitting an appeal for
  • Step 8: Select the drop down arrow and choose the reason for your appeal
  • Step 9: Click ‘submit’
