Late applications are usually based on available space and will often apply for specific programmes only. It’s therefore important to keep an eye on university updates for the information that is relevant to you.

The following universities who will open late applications for 2023 are:

  1. Cape Peninsula University of Technology
  2. Mangosuthu University of Technology
  3. University of Kwazulu-Natal (closes on 6 February)
  4. University of Fort Hare (closed on 27 January)
  5. University of Johannesburg (closed on 26 January)
  6. University of Venda (closes on 10 February)

The University of Pretoria has no set closing date for applications for non-selection programmes for 2023 and it’s instead based on available space. However, the university closed all applications for selection programmes on 30 June 2022.

The Central Applications Clearing House (CACH) is helpful for those who have not yet planned what they’ll be doing post-Matric. CACH provides matriculants with a second chance to gain access to tertiary institutions. CACH helps students whose initial application was unsuccessful but would qualify once their final Grade 12 results are released.
