How to Apply for UKZN Student Relief Fund 2023

This article contains information on how to apply for the UKZN Student Relief Fund for the 2023 academic year.

The university has engaged in a fund-raising program to provide bursary assistance to students who are financially needy and unfunded, enabling them to register for classes in 2023. The number of awards will be dependent on the amount of funds raised.

Ukzn Student Relief Fund Eligibility and Requirements

Students who meet the following criteria may apply for this assistance:

  1. You intend to register as a full-time student at UKZN in 2023.
  2. That you have historical debt outside of your current sponsor/bursary or scholarship.
  3. You wish to apply for the SRC Trust Funding that will assist me with registration fees or historical debt.
  4. Only students whose gross family income is below R350 000,00 per annum are not funded and must provide proof of being needy. The lowest family income principal will be applied.
  5. Students who are funded and have historical debt due to be paid by the student and the student provides proof of a family income below R350 000 per annum where the lowest family income will be prioritized.
  6. Only students with an average pass rate of at least 55% will be considered for possible assistance. Should there be more students than the funds available selection will start from the highest performing student.
  7. Duration taken to complete the qualification will be considered should there be more students than the available funds.
  8. For research students the two requirements must also be met: i) Submission of progress report or supervisor motivation on progress and plans towards completion. ii) the duration of the qualification will be considered should there be more students than the funds available.

How to Apply for The Ukzn Student Relief Fund

Students who wish to apply for this funding must complete the attached application and provide all supporting documents. Applications with missing supporting documents will be declined. Applications and supporting documents must be sent to the Financial Aid Advisor for your College/Campus as indicated in the application form.

Applications close of 27 January 2023 at 16h00.  No late applications will be considered.
