SASSA has announced that only approved beneficiaries may change or update their bank details by visiting the Sassa SRD website. “Please also note that the new banking details will only be used for future payments, after verification.” – Sassa said

  • Step 1: Go to the SRD website srd.sassa.gov.za.
  • Step 2: Scroll down to “How do I change my banking details”.
  • Step 3: Enter your South African ID Number
  • Step 4: Then click “Submit”
  • Step 5: An SMS containing a secure link, unique to you, will be sent to the mobile phone number with which you registered during application.
  • Step 6: Click on the link in the SMS
  • Step 7: Then follow the instructions carefully.

It is important to note that changing your banking details may affect your SASSA payments, and it is recommended that you make the change at least one month before your next payment date to ensure a smooth transition.

Sassa has urged recipients that should they select payment into a bank account, must ensure that they are the owner of the bank account. SASSA cannot pay your grant into another person’s bank account.

Should you select the money transfer option via one of the major banks, please ensure that the mobile phone number on which you received the SMS is registered in your name. SASSA cannot pay your grant into a mobile phone number which is registered to another person.
