Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD) beneficiaries are able to withdraw at a number of places, even without a bank account. This is a good alternative for beneficiaries who don’t have access to one.
Since the Post Office has discontinued the service of administering grant payments, it is advisable that SRD grant beneficiaries who had chosen to receive their funds at this facility visit www.srd.sassa.gov.za and select an option to collect the grant using alternative points.
This can be from one of the retail chain stores that the government agencies has chosen as an interim plan.
Here’s A List Of Alternative Payment Pickup Points
- Pick ‘n Pay
- Boxer
- Shoprite
- Checkers
- USave stores
- CashSend
SRD grant beneficiaries need to first receive a text message from Sassa with the One Time Pin (OTP) that will be used to make the withdrawal of the funds.
It is advisable that beneficiaries use the correct details when applying for the grant as the OTP will be sent to the registered cellphone number on the system. The cellphone number must be registered and belong to the grant applicant.
When going to make a withdrawal, beneficiaries are required to also bring along their ID to the payment point. According to Sassa, the government is still working on adding more payment points.
