Millions of vulnerable people apply for grants distributed by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) to receive some financial relief. Some of these services are available on the Sassa website, however, not remembering your password could prevent you from enjoying the benefits of the online platform.
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) is mandated to provide comprehensive social security services to combat vulnerability and poverty within the constitutional and legislative framework.
Sassa operates within the framework of the Social Assistance Act. The Social Assistance Act 13 of 2004 intends to provide for the rendering of social assistance to persons, to provide for the mechanism for the rendering of such assistance, to provide for the establishment of an inspectorate for social assistance and to provide for matters connected therewith.
In the past, individuals would have to visit a Sassa office to access the provisions made by the grant payment agency. However, Sassa recognised that visiting an office could pose challenges and unnecessary hassles to people needing assistance.
This led to the introduction of an online portal which members of the public can use to access the services offered by Sassa.
What Can You Do On The Sassa Services Portal?
Individuals can apply for grants like the Foster Child Grant, Older Persons Grant, and Child Support Grant by submitting their application and the required supporting documents online.
The Sassa services online portal also allows individuals to make changes to their personal information and circumstances, such as updating payment methods, banking details, or address changes.
Additionally, individuals can track the status of their grant application to stay informed about its progress. Overall, the Sassa Services Portal provides a convenient platform for grant applications, document submissions, and managing important details related to grants.
