The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) allows beneficiaries to receive their SASSA SRD R350 Grants via their personal bank account. Recipients receiving the Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD Grant) can change their bank details for the SASSA SRD grant.

SASSA has announced that only approved beneficiaries may change or update their bank details by visiting the Sassa SRD website. “Please also note that the new banking details will only be used for future payments, after verification.” – Sassa said

How to Submit Banking Details to SASSA?

Follow the below steps to submit banking details to Sassa.

  • Step 1: Go to the SRD website srd.sassa.gov.za.
  • Step 2: Scroll down to “How do I change my banking details”.
  • Step 3: Enter your South African ID Number
  • Step 4: Then click “Submit”
  • Step 5: An SMS containing a secure link, unique to you, will be sent to the mobile phone number with which you registered during application.
  • Step 6: Click on the link in the SMS
  • Step 7: Then follow the instructions carefully.

Sassa has urged recipients that should they select payment into a bank account, must ensure that they are the owner of the bank account. SASSA cannot pay your grant into another person’s bank account.

Should you select the money transfer option via one of the major banks, please ensure that the mobile phone number on which you received the SMS is registered in your name. SASSA cannot pay your grant into a mobile phone number which is registered to another person.

How Do I Change My SASSA Banking Details?

If you are an approved beneficiary of the SASSA SRD R350 Grant and you wish to change your banking details, please submit your South Africa ID Number via srd.sassa.gov.za. An SMS containing a secure link, unique to you, will be sent to the mobile phone number with which you registered during SASSA application.
