Appealing a declined Nsfas application is always advised as the first step when your application has been rejected. Keeping track of that appeal is just as important.
The process for tracking your Nsfas appeal may vary depending on the specific university or TVET college you are attending, but generally, you can follow these steps:
How To Get Your NSFAS Appeal Status
- Log into your myNsfas account on www.nsfas.org.za
- Click the ‘Track Funding Progress’ option
- Check the application progress tabs
- You will be able to track the progress of your appeal via your MyNSFAS account
Your Nsfas status will read “Active Appeal” once you have successfully submitted your Nsfas appeal. This Nsfas status indicates that your money has been conditionally granted and is awaiting final approval.
If your funding application is denied, your NSFAS status will change to “Application unsuccessful. However, if your funding application is granted, it will change to “Approved for financing subject to registration.”
It is also important to keep in touch with the Financial Aid Office online, they will be able to provide you with updates on the status of your appeal and let you know if there are any additional documents or information that you need to provide.
Nsfas provides financial aid to students in the form of bursaries and allowances, to cover the costs of tuition, accommodation, and other expenses related to pursuing higher education.
The bursary scheme’s main goal is to increase access to higher education for students from disadvantaged backgrounds who would otherwise be unable to afford it.
