Sassa Grant Payments For June Commence

Some Sassa social grant beneficiaries can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that they will be receiving their grant payments today. The agency also intends to shortly follow through with other grant payments on the days outlined on this month’s payment schedule.

The provision of monthly social grants by the South African Social Security Agency ensures that 47% of the country’s financially vulnerable population can afford to purchase their much-needed bare necessities.

This includes 18 million permanent grant recipients and approximately 10 million beneficiaries of the R350 grant. Permanent social grants include the Child support grant, Older person grants, Disability grants, Foster child grants, Care dependency grants, Grants in aid and War veterans grant

These grants are usually paid out at the start of each month, and since June has begun, today Sassa will begin paying out the Older Persons grant. The agency will then pay out the rest of these social grants in accordance with the schedule detailed below.

Social Grant Payment Schedule June 2023

Older Persons grant: Friday, 2 June
Disability grant: Monday, 5 June
Child Support grant (and all other grants): Tuesday, 6 June

Grant beneficiaries can access their grants and collect their payments at several different pay points in June 2023. This includes designated pay points, South African Post Office (SAPO) branches and at authorised retail stores.

Sassa recently announced that grant beneficiaries can continue using their expired Sassa Gold Cards until the end of 2023. This comes after the agency extended the validity of expired cards, allowing beneficiaries to continue transacting their Gold Cards.

Beneficiaries can also collect their grant without a Sassa card as an alternative. For this option, beneficiaries must have their cell phone, proof of identification, and the Sassa gold card pin in order to collect their grant without a gold card.

Grant recipients are also reminded that once their grant payment has been made it will remain available. This means that it is not necessary for them to collect their grant immediately if they are not able to.
