Sassa Verifies Grant Payment Schedule For February

Millions of grant recipients will receive their February 2023 grants payments during this week. However, the agency responsible for paying grants revealed that some beneficiaries will be paid this week.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has verified its social grant payment schedule for February 2023. While many grant recipients will be paid during the first week of the month, beneficiaries of children’s grants will have to wait until next week to receive their money.

In February 2023, Sassa will begin paying permanent grants from Thursday, 2 February 2023 starting with the Older Persons grants. This will be followed by the distribution of disability grants on Friday, 3 February 2023. The remaining grants will be paid during the next week.

Here Are The Sassa Grant Payment Dates For February 2023

  • Older Persons Grant – Thursday, 2 February 2023
  • Disability Grants – Friday, 3 February 2023
  • All Other Grants – Monday, 6 February 2023

Grants are normally paid on consecutive days, however, this will not be the case in February 2023. This is because Sassa does not distribute grant payments on public holidays and on weekends. This will result in several children’s grants being paid from Monday, 6 February 2023.

Sassa distributes several permanent grants monthly. This includes the Older Persons Grant, Disability Grant, Child Support grant, Foster Care Grant, Grant in Aid, War Veterans Grant, and the Care Dependency grant.

Grant beneficiaries can collect their grants using different payment methods. Payment methods include collecting grants at retail stores and ATMs. Retailers include Shoprite, Checkers, U-save, Pick ‘n Pay and Boxer.

The agency has reminded grant beneficiaries that they do not have to collect their grant payments on the fixed payment date. This as once the grant is paid, the money will remain until the beneficiary needs it.

It’s important to note that the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant is currently not classified as a permanent grant. The SRD grant also does not have a fixed payment date and its beneficiaries are advised to wait for an SMS informing them that their money is available.
