Unisa Students Urged To Pay 2023 Registration Fees

Unisa has called on students to pay their minimum registration fees, to avoid missing the looming deadline. Once students have paid their fees, the institution will finalise their registration.

The University of South Africa (Unisa) is the largest comprehensive open distance eLearning institution in Africa, with over 370 000 students enrolled from across South Africa, Africa, and other parts of the world.

The institution has urged both first-time and returning students registering for Research Master’s and Doctoral programmes to pay their registration fees.

Failure to pay the minimum fees will result in the institution not finalising a student’s registration for the academic year or semester.

Unisa says that first-time research master’s and doctoral students will be allowed to register for the 2023 academic year with a payment of R5 225 only.

The university has advised all Students based in South Africa to make use of one of the following payment methods:

  • EFT
  • Payment at a First National Bank branch.

Meanwhile, International students must please make use of SWIFT/EFT to make payments.  Unisa noted that students will be registered manually, and accounts will be rectified later in the year by the university’s Department of Finance.

Returning/re-registering students

Returning research master’s and doctoral students will also be able to register with a minimum payment of R5 225. However, the full amount as indicated on the temporary registration letter must be paid in full by 15 August 2023.

Unisa says that master’s and doctoral students based in South Africa, may also make use of the EFT or payment at a First National Bank to pay their registration fees. Whereas International students are urged to make use of SWIFT/EFT to make payment.

Students will be registered manually once the amount of R5,225 reflects on their student accounts.

The institution noted that the current online credit card platform will not allow students to pay less than the minimum amount required as indicated on the temporary registration letter. This applies for both first-time and returning students.

The deadline to pay registrations for both first-time and returning students close on 30 April 2023, however some exceptions may apply.
