This means that in March, beneficiaries of children’s grants and other support grants will have to wait until Monday, 6 January 2023 to collect their money.

Sassa reminded grant beneficiaries that they are not required to collect their grant payment on the designated date. This is because once the grant is paid, it remains available for collection at the convenience of the beneficiary.

Grant beneficiaries can collect money at several different payment points including ATMs, retail stores, post offices and mobile cash pay points.

Beneficiaries can access their money at any time when collecting their grant at an ATM or retail store. Grant collection at post offices occurs during a predetermined time frame (grant payment dates) while mobile cash pay points are only available for a few hours during a payment cycle.

Retail stores that pay social grants to beneficiaries include Shoprite Checkers, U-save, Pick n Pay and Boxer stores.
