If you’re an IEB matric student needing to rewrite some of your final examinations, you’re in luck. Here is all the information you need to know about matric rewrite registration and results release dates.
The IEB is the Independent Examinations Board and is used mainly at private schools across the country. IEB students needing to rewrite an exam or exams, now have a second chance. This is what you need to know.
IEB matric learners needing to rewrite their November examinations will sit their exams in May.
Who Can Rewrite?
The following learners are eligible to rewrite:
- learners who were absent during the November exam period
- learners who wish to improve on their November marks
Students can apply to rewrite any number of subjects, excluding Life Orientation. If students wish to rewrite a subject that has a Paper 1 and Paper 2, then both papers will have to be rewritten.
Applications for the May exams will close on 15 March 2023, and the rewrites should take place between 8 and 26 May 2023.
The May exam results are expected to be released on 20 July 2023, but this date still needs to be confirmed by Umalusi.
May exams can also be sent for remarks and the closing date to submit your exam is 28 July 2023. Remark results will be released on 16 August 2023.
If there are any changes to these dates, students will be notified by the IEB.
You can apply to rewrite your IEB matric examinations online, and the cost is R1510 per paper.
Once these exams are marked and results are available, these students will apply to receive a “combined” IEB final Grade 12 certificate.
