Are you a SASSA grant beneficiary and you’re wondering if you can have your SASSA payments reversed, we have all the details for you.

If people have already accessed their SASSA grant payments, it can’t be reversed, unless there are those who haven’t yet withdrawn the money. The system can pick that up easily.

The funds that are waiting for them, as they don’t expire, can be collected at a later stage.

The Post Office has also introduced a system to reduce waiting time for beneficiaries who collect their R350 Social Relief of Distress Grant.

Sassa urges beneficiaries not to withdraw all their funds at once or all in one day, and to avoid busy places during the first days of the month, especially pensioners.

This is because scammers and thieves target vulnerable people during the pay dates and rob them.

One of the requirements is that SASSA must ensure that the information utilised for grant payments is current and that grant payments are made only to those citizens who meet the qualifying criteria.

During a Sassa routine verification of the beneficiaries’ personal details, all given information must be current and correct, failing which may result in the lapsing of the grant.

Sassa beneficiaries however have an opportunity to apply for the restoration of grants within 90 days from the date of them lapsing.

If a beneficiary does not apply for the restoration of the social grant within 90 days of suspension, it can be interpreted as being unclaimed and will lapse, thereafter, the beneficiary must make a new application.

To apply for the restoration of social grant, the application should include the reason for not responding to request for review or the intention to suspend and a completion of the administrative process that determines how the beneficiary managed financially during the suspension.
