Matric exam results are out for IEB learners, but not all candidates who sat to write the exams may be satisfied with their results. If you feel that your IEB matric final marks are not a true reflection of your performance, then you have the option of registering for a remark.
Recently, the 2022 Independent Examinations Boards’ matric cohort’s results were released on 18 January 2023.
The IEB matric class of 2022 achieved a 98.42% pass rate, which is slightly higher than last year’s pass rate of 98.39%.
The Board’s CEO Anne Oberholzer has also shared that the performance of the 2022 cohort of students has been outstanding.
Amongst these matriculants are individuals who are not entirely pleased with their final examination results for their own reasons.
Fortunately, they do have an opportunity to register for their National Senior Certificate (NSC) remark and registrations are currently open as of 18 January 2023.
In a statement, the IEB has confirmed:
The closing date for the application for remarking is 31 January 2023 and subject to Umalusi’s approval, the IEB matric remark results will be released on 1 March 2023. Â
The Department of Basic Education has explained that a re-mark means that examination scripts will be marked for a second time and a re-check of your scripts is a further check to ensure that all questions are duly marked and that all marks are correctly calculated.
Applications for learners who qualify to enrol for the May/June exams will be open from 1 March 2023 until 15 March 2023.
There are a number of circumstances that may lead to an individual wanting to rewrite their final IEB matric exams, but only a select few qualify to sit for the IEB NSC Supplementary Examinations.
