In a matter of days, the basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga will be announcing the progress of the matric class of 2022. The South African National Defence Force has recently opened an opportunity for this cohort in the post education sector.
The Department of Basic Education (DBE) spokesperson, Elijah Mhlanga has shared that the department’s Minister Angie Motshekga will be announcing the National Senior Certificate results for the Class of 2022 on 19 January 2023 at the Mosiak Church in Fairland, Johannesburg.
This will be followed by the matric candidates fetching their results at the examination centre or school that they wrote their exam at.
Some of them have already been accepted at tertiary institutions, whilst others are still uncertain about their future.
As the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has a variety of career opportunities for individuals who are still fresh from school, it has started to recruit for one of its programmes.
Although some people might limit the type of skills that one gets to be trained in, in the Defence Force, in an interview, SANDF’s Lieutenant Colonel Bakang Monnahela has explained:
The Defence Force has a lot of career opportunities that it has on offer for young South Africans who meet specific requirements as stipulated in the application forms.Â
Monnahela also mentioned that the Defence Force has four arms of service, which are namely, the South African Army, South African Air Force, South African Navy and South African Military Health Service.
It is within these four arms of service that the SANDF offers different career opportunities that individuals can take an advantage of to further their careers. The Military Skill Development programmes run for two years.
Currently, the SANDF has officially issued out application forms to members of the public who wish to join the Defense Force through the military skills development system in the year 2024.
According to Monnahela, application forms may be accessed by applicants at all SANDF regional offices as well as as the official SANDF website as from 16 January 2023.
The recruitment process is free of charge, should money be demanded from members of the public for these forms, the SANDF urges them to report such actions or persons who demand money with the promise of employment into the SANDF to their nearest police stations or SANDF units and Bases.
