The University of Fort Hare Entry/Admission Requirements 2023/2024 | We are pleased to present to you the UFH Entry Requirements for the 2023/2024 academic session.
For Application into programs of study at the University of Fort Hare for any first degree or second degree, an applicant must have the following requirements for successful Application.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Minimum of Level 4 or better in four 20-credit subjects from the designated list, excluding Life Orientation. Mature age applicants (turning 23 years during year of registration), who have met the requirements in bullets 1 – 3 above, qualify for admission to main stream programmes.
- The minimum requirement for admission to undergraduate diploma study is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi with an achievement rating of 3 (Moderate Achievement, 40-49%) or better in 4 recognised NSC 20-credit subjects.(Undergraduate Diploma Study)
- Applicants holding a South African National Senior Certificate (NSC) need to pass a minimum of 4 subjects at a rating of 4 (Adequate Achievement, 50-59%) or better in any four 20-credit NSC subjects.
- Applicants holding a South African Senior Certificate need matriculation endorsement.
- South African Senior Certificate undergraduate applicants to UFH must have achieved a pass of 40% or more on the Higher Grade in English (First or Second Language) at Senior Certificate level.
- South African NSC undergraduate applicants to UFH, must have achieved a rating of 2 (Elementary Achievement, 30-40%) or better at Home Language or First Additional Language level.

An application is considered incomplete if the “Documents Required to be submitted with Application Form“ is not attached. Such application will not be considered for selection.
