2024 Applications Now Open At University of Venda

Applications for the 2024 academic year have officially opened at the University of Venda. The institution has encouraged all prospective students to submit their applications to avoid missing the closing date.

Located in Thohoyandou in the scenic Vhembe district of the Limpopo Province, the University of Venda (Univen) is a South African higher learning institution.

Univen is comprised of four faculties offering a range of programmes and courses.

The university’s faculties include a; Faculty of Science, Engineering and Agriculture; Faculty of Management, Commerce and Law; Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education as well as Faculty of Health Sciences.

Prospective students and matric learners who are interested in enrolling at the university can now submit their applications for the 2024 academic year.

How to Apply

It is important to note that all applicants including Undergraduates, Postgraduates, South African and International applicants are required to apply online.

To apply online, all applicants are required to have a South African Identify number or Passport Number for International candidates, a ten digits cell phone number and an email address.

During online application process, candidates may save and return at a later stage to complete the application.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to submit your application:

  1. Visit the University of Venda website.
  2. Create a 5-digit pin
  3. Complete your application by pressing “Submit button”
  4. You will then get a student number (NB: you must keep your student number safe for future enquires with the University)
  5. Complete your application and upload the required documents.
  6. Pay the application fee (R100)
  7. After successful submission and completion of your online application, you can log into My access page to access / view your application details.

Documents to Submit

Students are required to upload copies of the following documents in PDF format when you apply for undergraduate studies:

  • ID or passport.
  •  Grade 11 final (December) results with the school’s stamp.
  • Academic record and certificate of good conduct (if you have already studied at a tertiary institution). Copy of study / residence permit / medical insurance / SAQA Evaluation Certificate (if you are an international applicant).
  • Proof of payment (R100 application fee)

Admission Requirements

Degree programmes

The minimum admission requirement is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi) with an achievement rating of 4 (adequate achievement, 50-59%) or better in four subjects chosen from the recognised 20-credit NSC subjects.

In addition, applicants must have a minimum point score of 26. A grade 12 certificate with a bachelor or matric exemption is required if grade 12 has been achieved.

Diploma programmes

The minimum admission requirement is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi with an achievement rating of 3 (moderate achievement, 40-49%) or better in four recognised NSC 20-credit subjects.

Certificate programmes

The minimum admission requirement is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi.

However, the university has reminded applicants that achievement of the minimum requirements does not guarantee an applicant admission to any programme.

Applications for the 2024 academic year will close on 27 September 2023.
