Students interested in studying at a South African university may begin applying. A number of tertiary institutions have opened their applications process. Here are the Universities open for 2024 application.
Matric results were released on 20 January 2024 and with that comes many matriculants wanting to study further. Here are some places which are still taking applications for 2024.
University of Johannesburg
The University of Johannesburg (UJ) has announced that they will be conducting a final selection process following the release of the 2023 matric results. The late application enquiry system is now open and will close on 26 January at 20h00. This system will take place solely online and no walk-ins will be allowed.
Students will need to apply online via the enquiry system and will be notified officially via e-mail, and unofficially via sms, on the outcome of their application status.

University Of Pretoria
The University of Pretoria announces that applications are now open for the 2024 academic year.
The University of Pretoria (UP) is one of Africa’s top universities and the largest contact university in South Africa. They produce socially impactful research to find solutions for the world’s most pressing issues.
UP has no set closing date for applications for non-selection programmes for 2024 and it’s instead based on available space. The university closed all applications for selection programmes on 30 June 2023.

CACH
The Central Applications Clearing House (CACH) is helpful for those who have not yet planned what they’ll be doing post-Matric. CACHÂ provides matriculants with a second chance to gain access to tertiary institutions. CACH helps students whose initial application was unsuccessful but would qualify once their final Grade 12 results are released.
CACH collects application information from learners with Grade 12 results who are seeking placement at tertiary institutions. These tertiary institutions include universities, university of technology, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges.
CACH is set to open from 24 January.

Central Applications Office
The Central Applications Office (CAO) handles admissions for universities and education institutions in Kwazulu-Natal. Should you want to find out more about late applications at universities in the province, you should contact the CAO. Should an institution have space and you submit an application after the closing date, you might get that spot.
