While the Independent Examinations Bureau matric class of 2022 achieved a pass rate of above 98%, unsuccessful learners have an opportunity to rewrite their exams. These learners are encouraged to register before the closing date this month.

The Independent Examinations Bureau (IEB) has encouraged learners to register to rewrite their National Senior Certificate (NSC) during the May 2023 examination period.
Learners who were absent during the 2022 November NSC exams and learners who want to improve their marks can register for the exams in May this year.
It’s important to note that learners wishing to participate in the May 2023 rewrites have just two weeks left to register.

The closing date for IEB 2022 Matric rewrites is 15 March 2023. The IEB expects the examination period to run from 8 May 2023 until 26 May 2023.
The examination body expects to release results achieved by learners during the May exam period by 20 July 2023, however, this date must first be confirmed by the quality assurance body Umalusi.

The IEB matric class of 2022 achieved a matric pass rate of 98,42%. More than 89% of the 2022 matric cohort achieved a bachelor’s pass and qualified to enrol in a degree programme at a university or college.
More than 12,580 full-time candidates and 945 part-time candidates participated in the 2022 NSC examinations.

IEB learners who registered for the 2022 November NSC exam remark can expect to receive their results on Wednesday, 1 March 2023.
