To ensure the integrity of the NSC examination is upheld, candidates are required to provide proof of identification. This ensures that the examination is taken by the candidate who registered for it and not by a different candidate.
This proof of identification usually is presented to examination officers before the examination. However, one provincial education department is urging examination officers to ignore this requirement and allow candidates to participate in the examination without having to present their ID documents.
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education has called on all examination centre managers to allow Matric candidates to write their examination papers even if they do not yet have their identity documents from the Department of Home Affairs.
“Matriculants are required to submit their IDs within six months after the examinations,” added the department.
The final examinations of the 2023 NSC examinations are the Computers and Technology (CAT) and Information Technology (IT) rewrites. These examinations will be completed on Wednesday 12 December 2023.
