If you are a beneficiary of the R350 Social Relief of Distress grant, there are many ways for you to collect your grant payment. Here is how to change your payment method from retail to bank account.
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) distributes the R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant to millions of unemployed South Africans who are in need of financial assistance.
Once an applicant has been approved for the R350 grant they are able to use different methods to collect their grant which include collecting their payment from the following retail stores:
- Pick ‘n Pay
However, Sassa has encouraged beneficiaries of this grant to make use of their bank account to receive their R350 grant payment as it seems to be the most convenient.
This is because beneficiaries who make use of their bank account for grant payments are able to access their funds at any time from any ATM.
Beneficiaries who would like to change their payment method to their bank account must do the following:
- Visit the SRD website
- Scroll down to ‘How do I change my bank details’
- Insert ID number
- Click Submit.
- You will receive an SMS, with a unique link.
- Click on the link received on the SMS.
- Click on Capture Bank own Bank account.
- Capture Bank name.
- Capture Account type.
- Capture Account number.
- Click Submit.
When choosing to receive your R350 grant payment in your bank account, you are urged to make sure that you are the owner of the account.
Sassa is not able to pay your SRD grant into another person’s bank account, this is to ensure that the grant payment goes to the correct person and to avoid fraudulent activities.
There is also no set payment date for grant payments using a bank account however, Sassa has promised beneficiaries who have chosen this payment method that they will receive their funds.
