IEB learners are welcome to register for the matric rewrites if they hope to improve their results or were unable to sit for the exams. Here is how learners may register for the IEB matric rewrites.
The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) is an independent assessment body which offers a range of certified assessments, benchmarked assessments and training. This includes the National Senior Certificate.
IEB learners hoping for an opportunity to redo their matric examinations are encouraged to apply for an IEB matric rewrite. Learners are able to rewrite their November exams by applying through a supplementary examination.
Those who meet the following criteria may apply for the rewrite:
- Learners who were absent, due to a valid reason, during the November exams.
- Learners who hope to improve their examination results.
Learners are allowed to rewrite any subject, except for Life Orientation. If the subject has two papers, eg. Paper 1 and Paper 2, the learner will be required to rewrite both papers.
Applications for the rewrite may take place online. Learners will need to pay R1 510 per paper.
Learners may apply for or receive a “combined” IEB final Grade 12 certificate, once the exams have been marked. The IEB matric rewrite usually takes place in May.
