The monthly payments of Sassa social grants ensures that more than 18 million South Africans can afford to purchase their basic necessities. This makes it all the more important to keep up with any changes to grant payments, considering the recent announcements.
Sassa social grants were in for a bit of a boost when in February earlier this year, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana made an announcement regarding the allocation of R30 billion for inflation-linked increases in permanent social grants.
The first wave of these increased grant payments was disbursed in April, benefitting millions of grant beneficiaries across the country.
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has released the anticipated grant payment amounts for July 2023, taking into consideration the earlier inflation-linked adjustments.
These monthly grants are crucial for the welfare and livelihoods of many grant beneficiaries and families throughout the country.
Here’s How Much July 2023 Sassa Grant Payments Will Be
- Older Persons grant – R2,080
- Older Persons (75 years and older) – R2,100
- Disability grant – R2,080
- War Veterans grant – R2,100
- Child Support grant – R500
- Child Support grant (Top-up) – R500 + R250
- Care Dependency grant – R2,080
- Foster Care grant – R1,120
- Grant-In-Aid – R500
It is important to note that the above-mentioned grant amounts are subject to further increases in the future, specifically in October 2023. However, the current information suggests that there will be no increase in these grants for July 2023.
It is also worth pointing out that the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, which is not a permanent grant, will not see an increase in its payment amount. This means SRD grant beneficiaries will continue to receive R350 per month.
